December Events

We may not be covered in snow down here in good old Mesa, AZ…but we are now in December and the cold is upon us…the afternoons may be amazing but the mornings are sure cold!  So we have a couple events that may warm you and the kids up.  But before I get to that…we have updated our Teacher Favorites.  So don’t forget to take a look and see what your teacher would like.  If you are shopping online at Amazon Smile, make sure to use our link Las Sendas Amazon Smile.

December Events

Donation Drive/Candy Cane Chase (December 9th) – As you’ve seen we are doing a Donation Drive to help earn some money to install the projectors into the classroom ceilings.  As you can see from the picture, shadows/students (or teachers)/projectors on tables…do not mix.  This Donation Drive will help us to get the projectors installed into the ceilings of the classroom so the teachers and the students can use the smart boards the way they were intended to.  All it takes is $60.00 per family to help out.  We’ve already had such a great turn out.  We honestly do have the best parents!!  So thank you to all who have given and to those who give of themselves on a daily basis!!

In order to celebrate this achievement, we will be having a celebration on December 9th.  There will be candy canes, kids, bells, and an Elf to chase.  So come on out and watch your kids enjoy their run and the chase of a very popular Elf.  The schedule for the run is:

Candy Cane Chase Schedule

7:55 – 8:20     6th Grade

8:25 – 8:50     5th Grade

8:55 – 9:20     4th Grade

9:25 – 9:50     1st Grade

9:55 – 10:20     Kindergarten

12:50 – 1:15     2nd Grade

1:20 – 1:45     3rd Grade

Student Council Spirit Day – Polar Express Pajama Day, December 11th – We all know it can be hard to get your kiddos out of bed this time of year (since it is still dark outside) and ready for school…but what better way to combat that, then with a Polar Express Pajama Day?!  It sounds like a win-win.  Can’t wait to see the kids dressed in their warm and comfy PJ’S!!

General PTO Meeting, Media Center, 4:30 pm, December 14th – This meeting we will try and wrap up the 2015 part of our school year.

Coyotes Dining Out: Nando’s, December 16th – Who wants to enjoy some delicious Mexican Food?  Have some chips and salsa, burritos, tacos, or a chimichanga?  Who can resist that deliciousness?!  Make sure to stop by for lunch and/or for dinner, let them know you are there for Las Sendas Elementary, and we will get a portion of the sales.  We hope to see you there!!

Don’t forget December 18th is Early Release, 11:45 am!!  And school is out for Winter Break, returning January 4th!!

Happy Holidays & Happy New Year!

Project Projector Donation Drive and…

ProjectorDrive15

As a school, we would like to get the Projectors mounted into the ceilings of every classroom.  So we decided to do a Donation Drive to help this goal out. The best part is that 100% of the contributions will go directly to Las Sendas Elementary.  As Mr. Kaczmarek’s letter stated we are looking to come up with a total of $34,705.43, which divided by 600 families would come out to $57.84 per family. We value our teachers’ time and your contributions to make this happen.

Bronze Level:

$20 per child or $60 per family

Candy Cane Chase with Jingle Bells, Treats, Special Guest

Silver Level:

$100 per family

Above PLUS 2 tickets to the Las Sendas Auction

Gold Level

$250 per family

Above PLUS Lunch with “The Elf”

Please make sure to look at the letter in your Wednesday Envelopes!  Thank you again! Your contributions are 100% appreciated!

Candy cane

In order to celebrate all the donations, our teachers, and the students, we decided, with Student Council and the PE department, to put on a wonderful event for our little ones. What is it? It is going to be a Fun Run called Candy Cane Chase. Every student will get to run/walk, and there may be a few surprises for the students along the way…there may even be an “ELF” hanging around.

owl-thank-you

Clothing Cycle

clothingcycle1

The Las Sendas PTO is hosting their 3rd Annual Clothing Cycle Drive on November 5th 2015.  We will be collecting clothing and household textiles (full list can be found here).  At the end of the day, all of our items will be weighed and we will earn money for Las Sendas Elementary!  It doesn’t matter WHAT condition the items are in – they will take almost anything, from luggage, purses, old shoes, worn out clothing, bedding items, etc.  It’s a win-win for all – you get clean closets and Las Sendas earns cash!

We are looking for volunteers to help out during the day.  Please take a look at the times that are needed and sign-up for what fits your schedule!!  Thank you so much in advance for all of your help!

Pumpkin Decorating & Fall Book Fair/Club Haunted Houses Contest

We had ten pumpkins turned in to be judged during our PTO meeting tonight.  They were all so wonderful!!  Unfortunately, we could only have one winner.  The winner is…Isha’s Spider Web Pumpkin.   You’ll receive a $15 gift card to Golden Spoon within the next couple of days!

Flag Ceremony

Today Las Sendas Elementary had a Flag Ceremony.  It was very beautiful and they had several people talk about what Patriotism means to them.  It was very touching to be apart of this ceremony, to listen to what Patriotism means to different people, to see the children taking it in, and the parents and staff members watching/listening.  No detail was left out.  Thank you to all those who have and are serving.  Thank you to the entire school for putting on a ceremony that touched so many!!
